Art of Cooking in Tuscany Itinerary:

Day 1 – Pisa – Florence Airport/Montecatini

Meet your assistant and transfer to your hotel in Montecatini Terme. At the hotel, you will have a welcome cocktail to discuss the itinerary for the week. The easygoing Italian way of life, La Dolce Vita, reflects the Italian custom of gathering friends and family together for good wine, delicious food and great conversations. Over the next week you will spend an unforgettable holiday in the heart of Tuscany that combines cooking courses, art and culture. Dinner is at the hotel that evening.

Day 2 – Cooking Class “From Farm to Table”

Savor an Italian breakfast then transfer to a local farmhouse where your hands-on-cooking class, “From Farm to Table” begins. The owner of the farmhouse will show how only the finest and freshest ingredients are chosen. The meals will be prepared using the local products of the farm and served with local wines. After your cooking class and lunch, you will visit a pastry shop where the delicious Brigidini wafers are made…an absolute must! Continue to the Chocolate Laboratory of the doyen of Tuscan chocolatiers, Andrea Slitti. Transfer back to Montecatini where dinner is at the hotel that evening.

Day 3 – Cooking Class “The Noble Art of Cooking”

After breakfast, you will enjoy your Tuscan “hands-on” cooking experience. Located in the region of Carmignano, our estate is one of the authentic jewels of this region, a small hamlet of houses with a majestic main villa, where the Contini-Bonacossi family lives. You will visit the Olive Press, the underground Wine Cellars and the ancient “Vinsantaia” (holy wine cellar). You will have the opportunity to experience the fascinating transformation of grapes into wine and taste local wines. The chef of the Contini-Bonacossi family will assist participants in the preparation of traditional recipes, passed down through generations. After your cooking class, lunch and local wine tasting, you will return to the hotel, where you will enjoy dinner.

Day 4 – San Gimignano

After breakfast at the hotel, you will start your full day tour of San Gimignano. You will visit the wines cellars of the “Tenuta di Cusona.” The estate of the Guicciardini-Strozzi family extends over an area of 525 acres, where the many varieties of grapes such as Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown. The tour includes a visit to the Historical Cellars, to the Enological Museum, with a detailed description of all the production stages, as well as tasting of the local production. Continue to a guided tour of San Gimignano, a town of Etruscan origin. Built by noble families, the fourteen remaining towers that lined the rampart, look like medieval skyscrapers. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to have a walk in the town center and enjoy a gelato in Piazza della Cisterna. Travel back to the hotel where dinner is waiting.

Day 5 – Montecatini Alto and Pizza Dinner

Following breakfast, enjoy the morning at your leisure. Spend time exploring the town of Montecatini, where the local market stalls sell everything from clothes to shoes, scarves and accessories. In the afternoon, you will visit a Local Olive Press to follow all the different production stages of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and to taste the newly pressed olive oil. Continue to a local “Torrefazione” to taste a real, true Italian espresso. Then on to the ancient medieval village of Montecatini Alto via the Funicular and enjoy a Pizza Dinner in a local pizzeria.

Part of the land is cultivated and part is left untouched. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the real countryside and to taste home-made products such as the Pecorino and Ricotta cheeses. After your cooking class and lunch, we continue with a guided tour of Volterra. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to explore this magnificent Etruscan town. Dinner is at the hotel this evening.
